Azerbaijan to increase grain production by 25% this year

2.5 mln tons of grain is expected to reap in Azerbaijan this year, deputy agriculture minister Behram Aliyev said.

To him, barley reaping has been started in Azerbaijan in the early June: “The harvesting has already been finished in 325 thousand ha area. More than 752 thousand tons of harvest was reaped”.

The average productivity in grain fields made 25 quintal / ha so far: “I think that nearly 2.5 mln tons of harvest will be reaped until the end of cropping”.

Deputy Minister noted that there would not occur problem related to bread production in the country this year: “Bread production is enough and it will be so. Average productivity rose 3 centners compared to a year ago”.

Remind that, last year, grain production made 2 mln tons in Azerbaijan, down 25% from the current forecast.
