Azerbaijani State Standardization Committee becomes IEC member

The Azerbaijani State Committee on Standardization, Metrology and Patents became a member of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), the committee said.

The relevant document was signed by the head of the Azerbaijani State Committee on Standardization, Metrology and Patents Ramiz Hasanov and IEC Secretary General Ahoran Amit.

Joining the IEC gives the organization the opportunity to freely use the electronic base of the organization, as well as to receive and to use more than 200 international standards adopted by the Commission in Azerbaijan.

Moreover, the experts of the Azerbaijani State Committee on Standardization, Metrology and Patents got the right to participate in the meetings of technical committees and the IEC General Assembly.

The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) is an international non-profit organization on standardization in the field of electrical, electronic and related technologies. Some of the IEC standards are developed jointly with the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).

IEC was founded in 1906. At present, it includes more than 76 countries. First, the commission was situated in London and headquartered in Geneva (Switzerland) since 1948. At present, the organization has regional centers in South-East Asia (Singapore), Latin America (Sao Paulo, Brazil) and North America (Boston, U.S).
