Azerbaijan’s company joins rescue works in disaster zone in Georgia

A strong downpour took place on June 19, 2011, caused landslide in Rikotsk pass on Tbilisi-Batumi road.

As a result of the incident 4 persons died, bridges were damaged, residential buildings in the surrounding areas remained under flood waters, transport connection between the eastern and western provinces of Georgia was violated. Employees of the road and rescue service were involved in the site.

Director of advertising department of the Akkord Industrial Construction Investment Corporation Afag Guliyeva said that Akkord Georgia joined the rescue works too. Akkord handed over its equipment and cars to the disposal of the competent bodies. At present, rescue and restoration works are underway at the site.

Prime Minister of Georgia Nika Gilauri, Minister of Development and Infrastructure Ramaz Nikolaishvili, governor of Shida Kartli region Zurab Arsoshvilli visited the disaster zone as well. They met with the representatives of Akkord and thanked the Akkord leadership, which stopped infrastructure project due to the emergency situation.
