Some 50-55 billion cubic meters of gas is expected to transport via the territory of Azerbaijan in 2020-2025.
This includes the gas produced both in the ShahDaniz-2 project, and in the other deposits located in the country, as well as the transit gas from Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan. To bring the transportation system into compliance with these volumes requires $40 bn, SOCAR’s deputy vice president for investment and marketing Vitaly Baylarbayov said.
To him, gas export on Shahdaniz-2 project will be started from 2017: "The total cost of Shahdaniz-2 is $40 bn. It’s about bringing the country’s gas transport system in line with those volumes. Therefore, Europe’s attention to this project is very important".
According to words of Baylarbayov, 70% of the consumed energy in Europe is provided by import, and this indicator will show 85% in 2013.
Touching upon transportation opportunities of Azerbaijani gas to Europe, Baylarbayov said that including Italy and Greece, Azerbaijan could export its gas to many European countries.
