SOCAR ready to check vehicles' conformance with Euro-2 standards

SOCAR ecology department is ready to provide laboratory services to all concerned people due to applying environmental standards Euro-2 for cars imported and manufactured in the country, deputy head Vugar Karimov said at the press-conference.

He said that a laboratory of the ecology department first received accreditation to check vehicles for complying with ecological standards Euro-2. Presently, the laboratory provides services only to SOCAR departments.

"If there are appeals from other organizations, we are ready to provide services. The lab has all the necessary capabilities," Karimov said.

He said that at present, the company has three points for checking SOCAR vehicles for complying with environmental standards. The ecology department plans to open five points throughout the republic, particularly in Sheki, Yevlakh, Guba-Gusar region, Ganja and Nakhchivan in 2011-2012.

The department must get an appropriate appeal for providing services to SOCAR non-members. The services, to be provided by the companies, will be paid. The Committee on Standardization, Metrology and Patents gives licences for the laboratories to provide research on conformity of vehicles with Euro-2 standards.
