Azerbaijan proposes angel investors to develop innovation sector

03 December 2010 [17:38] - TODAY.AZ
Baku is hosting the fifth international conference, "ECA BIC-High Innovation in 2010: The Readiness of Young Entrepreneurs to Organize New Business Investments and Strengthen Business Incubation Infrastructure."

The conference will allow participants to share their experiences with innovation and business investments, as well as to discuss future plans.

Azerbaijani Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Intigam Babayev said the ministry regularly holds events to educate young people in various regions of the country. Today, he said, the majority of businesses registered in the country fall to young people.

The conference was attended by delegates from 15 countries worldwide.

Head of the Azerbaijani National Confederation of Entrepreneurs Mammad Musayev said the organization is working hard to get young people to become entrepreneurs, as it is necessary to maintain high rates of economic development. The confederation is ready for international cooperation in this sphere, he said.

"We hope that this conference will play an important role in the further development of the innovation sector in Azerbaijan, and contribute to the emergence of angel investors based on the experiences of both Russia and European countries where they gained great popularity," head of the Caspian Investment Center Elshan Musayev said.
