Mahmoud Ahmadinejad: Azerbaijan and Iran will benefit from North-South corridor

The transport corridor Azerbaijan-Iran-Persian Gulf is a very good route within the North-South corridor, the president of Iran Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said in his interview with Azerbaijan's Lider TV channel.

According to him, both countries' governments and businessmen will benefit from the use of this corridor. It is possible to use both railroad and highway automobile potential in this direction. At present time the project of the railroad Gazvin - Resht - Astara passed across the territory of Iran is realizing, the president Ahmadinejad said.

According to him, at present time one more railroad project is being realized. This is the railroad passed on the route Ardabil - Parsabad. Both these projects were reflected in the state development programme. Works are being implemented upon them.

"I hope that during the next five years the realization of these projects will be finished. There are nice conditions within our highways too but despite this situation we can increase their potential", Iranian president said.

Ahmadinejad is to visit Azerbaijan today, for two days. He is to hold bilateral negotiations with the governance of the state and also to take part at the summit of the Caspian littoral countries' leaders.
