Azerbaijan's economically active population reaches 4.339 million

As of August 1, Azerbaijan's economically active population reached 4 338.9 thousand, of which 4 079.8 thousand or 94% are employed, said the State Statistical Committee.

The number of foreigners working in Azerbaijan reached about 7 091 according to official statistics. About 2 272 foreigners are employed in mining industry, 2 620 in construction, 497 in processing area, 309 in wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles, household appliances and personal effects, 168 in information and communication and 134 in finance and insurance area.

19.4% of hired workers worked in production sphere, 2.6% in mining sphere, 5.6% in processing, 2.2% in electricity, gas, equipment with conditioned air, 1.6% in water supply, 4.7% in construction, 2.7% in agriculture. As of August 1, the number of people with official jobless status made 39.7 thousand, of which 43.5% are women. An average unemployment benefit was AZN 154.4.
