Minister: Grain production expected to drop in Azerbaijan next year

Due to the delay in delivery of subsidies to farmers by the Ministry of Finance, grain production will be affected next year, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Agriculture Ismat Abasov said.

"Another reason is the baseless inspections in most grain growing areas for several months. These inspections were inconclusive. Because inspections coincided with the ploughing and sowing period there will be a relative drop in grain production next year,” he added.

According to him, the production levels will also be affected by the fact that lands were left fallow, and the sown areas decreased by 150 000 hectares.
