CIS heads of state decide to take joint action to eliminate results of global economic crisis

Presidents of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) agreed to take joint measures to combat the results of the global financial crisis at a Chisinau meeting on Oct. 9.
Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee Sergei Lebedev said the document was signed at a meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Commonwealth in the narrow format.

The CIS Presidents requested the Council of CIS Heads of Government to consider a draft plan for implementation of joint actions of CIS countries to overcome the effects of the global financial crisis in 2009-2010 at the next meeting.

Governments of Commonwealth countries were also encouraged to implement measures to further liberalize mutual trade, to refrain from the use of protectionism and other measures that control mutual access of goods to domestic markets of CIS countries.
