"Overall, we plan to increase production to 40-45 billion cubic meters of gas a year in the next ten years," Heydarov said at the 17th International Conference "Oil and Gas" held in Almaty.

"For many years, we have bought gas from Gazprom, but we will sell gas to Gazprom from Jan.1, 2010. Production will total 27 billion cubic meters of gas this year," Heydarov added.

Heydarov said Azerbaijan's oil production is planned to reach 50 million tons of oil in 2009.
