Azerbaijan may offer sattelite services soon, Azerbaijani Communication and Information Technology Minister Ali Abbasov said.
“In 2011-2012, Azerbaijan plans to launch two telecommunications satellites that will cover Eastern Europe, North Africa, CIS, Central Asia and East Africa. By entering international satellite market, Azerbaijan will provide services of satellite television and radio, internet, data transmission, international telephone traffic, etc.,” he said.

He said favorable geographical position of Azerbaijan is of great importance from economic and political point of view. This enables the country to play an international role as an information center between East and West.

This will improve the economic potential of the country and create a need for information security required in the process of creating space-related technologies.
