The Turkey-Greece-Italy (TGI) gas pipeline, intended to diversify energy deliveries to Europe is a symbol of cooperation in the region, Greek Foreign Minister Dora Bakoyannis said.
"The construction of the gas pipeline is one of important components of cooperation in the region," Bakoyannis stated after a meeting Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov in Baku on Jul. 2.
Mammadyarov said talks under the TGI project isin progress.
"We believe all relations in all sphere are important for cooperation," Mammadyarov added
ITGI transport corridor which will transport Azerbaijani gas to Greece and Italy includes updated Turkish pipeline infrastructure and also ITG projects (Turkey-Greece junction pipeline) and IGI. Greece-Italy junction pipeline is a missing link of Turkey-Greece-Italy transport corridor which enables to transport gas from the Caspian region and Middle East to Italy and West Europe via Turkey and Greece. The designed capacity of ITGI is 12bln cu m per year.
