National Bank of Azerbaijan rebuts information about bankruptcy of leading banks of Azerbaijan

"Some newspapers have recently published articles about the so-called bankruptcy of several large banks of the country, thus misleading the public.

The press service for the National Bank announces that such information is nothing but a lie and rumor, damaging the positive image of Azerbaijani banks", says a statement of the NBA press service, released Monday.

The statement also "assures the country's public that the global economic crisis does not create a significant threat for the banking system of Azerbaijan, which is just integrating with the world market, in the result of the undertaken preventive measures and flexible tools, applied in country's financial market".

NBA also calls on the country's population not to trust "to announcements, aiming to create artificial tensions".

"No Azerbaijani bank has any financial difficulties and the banks continue their normal activity", says the statement.
