Eyub Huseynov: "Сombat with corruption and monopolies should not be fragmentary or accompanied with arrests of several high ranking officials"

"I approve the actions of the country's law enforcement bodies on the arrest of Samir Dadashev, head of the State Anti-Monopoly Service under the Ministry of Economic Development of Azerbaijan, as he did not hold any struggle with monopolies, which resulted in rule of monopolists in almost all segments of local market", said head of the Free Consumers Union of Azerbaijan Eyub Huseynov commenting on the arrest of the head of the state anti-monopoly service under Azerbaijan's Economic Development Ministry.

"This, in turn, proposes that there are links between the fact that the state anti-monopoly service ignored the state of affairs and the level of corruption among the leaders of this structure", said Huseynov.

However, he does not consider the said arrests to be the start of a large-scale combat with corruption and monopolies in Azerbaijan.

"I do not rule out that the new head of the state anti-monopoly service will also not be able to resist monopolization of all economic segments of our country and will be corrupt.

Combat with corruption and monopolies should not be fragmentary or accompanied with arrests of a number of high-ranking officials. Strict laws should be adopted and their observance should be regulated for the large scale combat with these events", concluded Huseynov.
