Foreign investments to Azerbaijani economy fall down

Investments of foreign companies and international financial institutions to Azerbaijani economy dropped 10.1% in the first half of 2008, as compared to the same period of 2007 down to AZN 1,143,665,299, said a source from the state statistical committee, according to Interfax-Azerbaijan.

According to the state statistical committee, companies from Great Britain were leading for investments into Azerbaijani economy, whose volume made AZN 526,558,100 or 46% of all investments (6.2% drop).

Investments of the US companies made AZN 247,701,000 (17.2% drop).

Moreover, investments of Japanese companies in January-June made AZN 126,838,400 (18.9% fall), Norway AZN 79,199,500 (19.2% fall), Turkey AZN 62,767,500 (18.7% fall), South Korea 27,390,000 (foreign investments not conducted in January-June of 2007), France AZN 12,785,900 (2.7 rise), Iran AZN 9,349,600 (23.5% fall), Germany AZN 8,818,700 (52.3% fall), Russia AZN 2,953,900 (3 times rise).

Among international organizations the World Bank invested AZN 15,692,300 (47.4% rise), Asian Development Bank AZN 5,512,100 (40.1% fall), European Bank for Reconstruction and Development AZN 5,441,800 (14.7% fall), Islamic Development Bank AZN 2,991,300 (16.3% fall), Kuqait Development Fund AZN 2,446,100 (35.5% rise).

Other countries and organizations accounted for the rest volume of investments.
