03 June 2008 [17:48] - TODAY.AZ
"Preliminary survey works on construction of the ninth transnational pipeline, designed for exportation of natural gas to the Eutopean continent, have been completed", said Reza Kassaeizadeh, President of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) and Iranian Deputy Minister of Petroleum.

IN line with the report of the NIGC planning department, the construction of the ninth transnational gas pipeline will help ensure gas supplies to the provinces of Lurestan, Kermanshah, East Azerbaijan, West Azerbaijan and gas supplies to Europe.

According to NIGC director, the 500 km section of the transnational gas pipeline from Asaluye to oil refining complex Bidbolyand, which is an extension of the sixth pipeline, has already been constructed.

The construction of the section from the oil refining complex to Akhvaz, extending to 100 km, will start in the near future.

NIGC intends to use investments by BOT (build-operate-transfer) and build-operate-own (BOO) provisions for the implementation of the aforementioned project.

Reza Kassaeizadeh said the  9th transnational gas pipeline extends to 1,863 kilometers. It will pump 110 mln cubic meters of natural gas per day.

17 compressor stations will be installed at the gas pipeline. The Nabucco gas pipeline is expected to be launched by 2011. Minimal volume of investments is estimated at $7 bln.
