The Azerbaijan-Russia-Iran meeting of work groups, dealing with the implementation of the North-South international transport corridor project, will be held in Baku, Azerbaijan on May 26-27.

The due announcement was made by the spokesman for the Azerbaijan State Railroad Nadir Azmamedov.
He said the meeting participants will discuss the further development of trilateral cooperation of the business-project of the construction of the Kazvin-Resht-Astara railway section in the framework of international transport corridor North-South and others.
It should be noted that the project of the international transport corridor envisions construction of a part of the Kazvin-Resht-Astara section extending to 8.4 km, the customs and control points, and a wheel replacement station in Azerbaijan.
An idea of formation of the North-South transport corridor was formed at the session of the heads of the railway administrations of Russia, Iran and India on September 12 of 2000. Azerbaijan joined the project in 2005.
