Azerbaijan starts monitoring of grain and flour reserves

Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Agriculture has started monitoring of the situation with grain and flour reserves in the country.

The ministry told APA-Economics that the objective of the monitoring is to assess the existing reserves.

The results of the monitoring will be generalized and submitted to the Cabinet.

Azerbaijan harvested 1.7 million tons of grain from 652 000 hectares in 2007. Grain has been planted in 819 000 hectares this year (including 610 000 hectares of wheat).

The Ministry of Agriculture said in a report that 576 800 tons were left in stock as of April 1.
