Second session of Azerbaijani-Latvian intergovernmental economic commission to be held in Riga

The second session of the Azerbaijani-Latvian intergovernmental economic commission to be held in Riga in the second half of 2008.


Novosti-Azerbaijan reports with reference to the press service for the Latvian Ministry of Economy that the issue was discussed during the meeting held between Latvian Minister of Economy Kaspar Gerhard and Azerbaijani Minister of Economic Development Heydar Babayev in Riga on January 24.

It is planned to hold the Latvian-Azerbaijani business forum with participation of the entrepreneurs of the two countries in the framework of the intergovernmental commission.

It should be reminded that the first session of the commission was held in Baku on March 3 of 2007.

A delegation led by the former Minister of Economy of Latvia Yuris Strod arrived in Baku for participation in the commission. The delegation is composed of representatives of different ministries and departments of Latvia. During the session the sides discussed bilateral cooperation in the sphere of mutually profitable trade and investments, as well as Azerbaijan's cooperation with the European Union.

It should be added that Azerbaijan's Minister of Economic Development Heydar Babayev is a co-chairman of the intergovernmental commission, representing Azerbaijan.
