President of Azerbaijan to hold bilateral meetings in Davos

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev will leave for Davos (Switzerland) to participate in the annual World Economic Forum.

On January 23 I.Aliyev will make a report on energy security and Azerbaijan's role as an alternative energy supplier to Europe.

In the framework of the visit, the head of state will participate in a number of debates on energy and technological innovations. Nearly 15 bilateral meetings with Ilham Aliyev's participation are scheduled.

According to the secretariat for the Ukrainian President, during the meeting of Viktor Yushenko with his Azerbaijani counterpart, the sides will discuss issues of energy, including in the context of an energy forum, to be held in Kiev in May.

I.Aliyev will return to Baku on January 25.

Notably, the World Economic Forum is held in Davos for the 38th time beginning in 1971. The main subject of the forthcoming forum is the power of cooperation in the sphere of innovations.

The forum will also involve the heads of 14 states, as well as Prime Ministers of a number of countries, almost all leaders of international economic organizations, chairmen of leading private companies and holdings, members of the European Commission and others.
