Azerbaijan to apply e-medical cards first in Eurasia

28 December 2007 [10:14] - TODAY.AZ
Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Health has held a presentation of a system of e-medical cards to be applied in the country.

The Ministry of Health announced that the system is a component of the E-Azerbaijan State Program approved by the President.

Minister of Health Ogtay Shiraliyev said Azerbaijan will be the first among Eurasian countries to introduce national e-medical cards.

“Medical records from children's hospitals around the country will be input into a centralized database. Newborns will be granted e-medical cards. This will make it possible to get medical records of any person,” he added.

The new system will cover about 300 children's hospitals in the country.

The minister said newborns will be granted e-cards by the end of 2007 and children under 14 year-old will be granted cards by the end of 2008.
