Azerbaijan to suffer no gas problem in winter

The Caspian Integration Business Club members have today met with Alikhan Malikov, chair of Azerigas-the State Gas Company of Azerbaijan.

Briefing the attendees about activities to improve gas supply in the country, Mr. Malikov said that gas provision for 32 regions were restored and more than 120,000 homes were supplied with natural gas.

"This year we plan to start gas supply to Aghjabedi and Beilagan, the only two regions without gas," he said.

Malikov added that State Oil Company (SOCAR) will deliver 4.9 billion cubic meters of natural gas for 2007 and at present 13 million cubic meters per day comes from SOCAR, 7 million cubic meters from Azeri Field and 7 million cubic meters from Shah Deniz.

"We will not suffer any gas-related problem in the winter. Since this summer came, we injected 170 million cubic meters of gas into the underground gasholders. This amount will reach 1 billion cubic meters. We will also get 1.8 billion cubic meters of Shah Deniz gas and this will increase our stockpiles," he added.

He noted that the collection rate for gas throughout the country was 48% on average for April-January. He said metering process is 98% complete, APA reports.

Malikov was awarded honorary member certificate at the end of the meeting.
