The Azerbaijan Air Lines (AZAL) launched a new Baku-Saint Petersburg flight on March 25.

Passengers of the first flight were welcomed by Azerbaijan's consul general in Saint Petersburg, Gudsi Osmanov, AZAL representative in the Russian Federation and Republic of Belarus, Eldar Hajiyev, secretary general of the Council of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly, Mikhail Krotov and other officials.

According to Eldar Hajiyev, successful reforms are being implemented in Azerbaijan to develop the civil aviation with new airports constructed and new aircrafts bought. He said all safety measures were taken in the flight.

Gudsi Osmanov stressed that new flight will help to expand existing Russia-Azerbaijan relationship and contribute to development of tourism.

Krotov highlighted an importance of such a project, saying it will give a kick-start to development of interparliamentary ties. AzerTAg
