Azerbaijan's new GSM operator Azerfon (Nar Mobile) comes on stream

Azerfon LLC Director General John Armley told a press conference that the new operator has set up necessary infrastructure and installed the required equipment.

The company intends to cover 80% of Azerbaijan's territory with one million subscribers by this year's end.

The necessary networks have been established in Baku, Absheron, Ganja, Mingechevir, Guba, Lenkeran and Nakhchivan. Azerfon has set up Sales and Customer Service Centers in Baku, Ganja and Nakhchivan, as well as more than 200 retail stations, of which 100 in Baku. Milos Surla, Commercial Director of Azerfon, said the company offers new services including choosing a favorite number, free Interactive Guide (IVR) (777), email etc.

Azerfon is intending to become a leader in this market. Currently company is testing its network, being committed to offer to its subscribers an ideal balance of price, high quality, roaming coverage and technical innovation of services. The subscribers, who like access through Internet, can easily run Nar Mobile services through Web. Internet Guide (Web Self Care) will help you even when the mobile phone is switched off.

Video streaming and video on demand are the options uniquely offered by Nar Mobile. Subscribers will be able to choose any TV channel listed on the phone display and enjoy watching TV all across the Nar Mobile network. Video on demand is possibility to choose and watch your favorite movie, football match, music clip or any other files available from Nar Mobile wap site.

Moreover, such services as SMS-chat and sending e-mail to mobile phone and back will certainly help to make communication more interesting.

A Gala concert on the occasion of official opening ceremony of the new mobile operator NAR Mobile will take place on a stage of the stadium named after T. Bahramov on March 25, 2007.

AZERFON, new GSM operator, was granted the license numbered 001512 by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies dated 30 December 2005 for the provision of mobile communications of GSM standard in Azerbaijan. Technical equipment of Azerfon is being supplied by Siemens AG of Germany.

Azerfon is planning to invest around 300 million US dollars to expand the coverage area and develop the company's infrastructure, APA-Economics reports.
