Azerbaijan's trade surplus reaches $2.3bln

Azerbaijan's surplus trade with faraway nations in 2006 reached US $2,277 billion while trade gap with Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) amounted to $1.170 billion.

State Customs Committee told the APA that exports to remote countries reached $5.442 billion, imports - $3.165 billion.

Goods worth $929.7mln were exported to the CIS and goods of $2100mln imported to the country.

Azerbaijan mainly exported mineral fuel, oil and oil products, bitumen, polymer, aluminum, fruits, nonorganic chemicals, boats, grease and vegetable oil, fruits, and imported electronic equipment and devices, medical and industrial appliances, ferrous metals, furniture and transport facilities, vessels and boats, grains.

The portion of the state sector in the exports was $3.673bln and the portion of the private sector was 2.602bln%, the portion of individuals was 96.751mln%. As to imports, the shares are $1.520bln, $3.447bln, 297.177mln respectively.
