Water supply and sewerage system of Ganja and Sheki to be reconstructed

Ganja Su-Kanal Subsidiary company chief Teyyub Jafarov told the APA the process would begin after the tender announced. In the frame of the project, new water canal will be constructed from Geigel lake.

It should be noted that, in the frame intergovernmental cooperation, the specialists from Germany advised to renew the water and sewerage system in Ganja after held investigations held since 2002.

On these terms, an agreement was signed between Azerbaijan government and Germany Development Bank and Secretary of Switzerland on Economic issues in August last year.

The project costs EUR55m. According to the agreement Germany Development Bank allocated EUR37m credit, Secretary of Switzerland on Economic issues lent EUR10m grant to the project. The share of Azerbaijani government is EUR8m.
