Iran to increase poultry exports to Azerbaijan

26 November 2006 [15:59] - TODAY.AZ
The Iranian Deputy Trade Minister, Hossein Soltania stated that no "bird flu" is existing in his country, so the Azeri government should not have banned the imports of chicken and other poultry products from Iran. He said Iran will try to persuade Azerbaijan to cancel the ban.

The Iranian official said Iran is preventing any possible spread of bird flu (Virus H5N1) efficiently, which has been appreciated by FAO.

Three leading poultry-breeding companies of Iran have sent their representatives to Baku for negotiations. The companies intend to invest capitals in Azerbaijan's poultry-breeding industry.

However, the Azerbaijani vet officials said the poultry imports (including meat, eggs, etc.) from Iran are not banned or limited. Only the smuggling of these goods is prohibited. Turan
