Azercell keen on expansion in Azerbaijan

19 May 2006 [13:17] - TODAY.AZ
Azerbaijan's leading cellular provider Azercell Telecom JV announced new plans to expand the coverage and quality of its services.

According to AssA-Irada, the number of the company's customers in the regions has been increasing over the past two years, the head of its sales department, Habil Huseynov, told the press. About 40% of the clients using its services, or 850,000 people, live in rural regions, he said.

Huseynov said the company plans to open six new Azercell Express services in the regions by the end of 2006. He said Azercell experts are currently conducting research to determine which districts will host these offices. In doing the work, the potential of the population and the number of customers will be taken into account, the company official said, noting that Kurdamir and Gazakh are among the districts that are likely to host Azercell Express units.

Huseynov said the number of such offices will also be doubled in the Azeri capital by the year-end. Moreover, new customer service centers providing services to over a thousand clients a day will be established.

Azercell is running sales departments in six Azerbaijani districts, including those in the second and third largest cities, Ganja and Sumgayit. 108 official dealers and 400 sub-dealers of the company are working in the countryside, Huseynov said.

The company official emphasized that Azercell is carrying out the greatest volume of its sales on the regions – 25% - in the Ganja area. The company also runs 9,000 'hotline' sales units, mainly at gas-filling stations, supermarkets, ticket offices, etc., he said.
