It is crucial to accelerate the development of the Trans-Kazakhstan Railway Corridor, which will serve as the main link in the Trans-Caspian route of the Middle Corridor.
Azernews reports that this was highlighted by the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, in his speech at an expanded government meeting.
"Transit is a huge advantage for us in the international competition for cargo transportation. This advantage must be fully and effectively utilized," Tokayev stated. "We need to speed up the development of the Trans-Kazakhstan Railway Corridor, which will be a key component of the Trans-Caspian route of the Middle Corridor. Several important projects in this direction are already underway, but continued work is essential for future prospects."
President Tokayev has instructed local authorities to construct a new railway line, “Moyintsi-Kizilzhar,” and to modernize the most heavily used sections of the highways linking the Kizilzhar station to the Aktau seaport.
"Special attention should also be given to the development of multimodal transport hubs that integrate all types of transport. The current and coming years should mark significant progress in this direction," the Kazakh leader added.
The Middle Corridor, which includes key transportation routes through Azerbaijan, plays a vital role in connecting China to Europe via Central Asia, the Caspian Sea, and the South Caucasus. Azerbaijan, as a critical hub in this corridor, continues to enhance its infrastructure, particularly the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway and the port of Baku, to facilitate the smooth transit of goods and strengthen its position in global trade.
