Anglo Asian Mining appoints Gordon Lewis as CEO

Anglo Asian Mining PLC, the gold and copper development company with projects in Azerbaijan confirms that, Mr Gordon Lewis has agreed terms with Anglo Asian to take up the position of Chief Executive on 1 July 2006.

Over the course of his career, Mr Lewis has worked as a senior mining executive on a significant number of projects in emerging market locations. He is currently the Chief Operating Officer and an executive director of Alexander Mining PLC and is based in Argentina.

He will become a non-executive director of Alexander Mining once joining Anglo Asian as Chief Executive. Previously, he had responsibility for Avocet Mining PLC's assets in Indonesia, which included taking the North Lanut gold mine from in-fill drilling through to production. In addition, he has gained experience with responsibility for the start up of Malaysia's largest gold mine for Avocet Gold Limited and with the management of various mining operations for RTZ.

Mr Lewis is a Member of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy and holds a First Class Mine Manager's Certificate, South Australia.

Mr Mascall, the Chairman of Anglo Asian, commented "We are delighted that Gordon is joining the Board as Chief Executive.
