BP completed undersea pipelines

11 April 2006 [00:44] - TODAY.AZ
BP, Europe's largest oil company, and its partners completed undersea pipelines to the $4.2 billion Shah Deniz field, a Caspian sea project scheduled to start supplying world markets by year's end.

McDermott Caspian Contractors installed three 90-kilometer pipelines for the site, the BP-led Azerbaijan International Operating Co. said Friday in an e-mailed statement. The AIOC expects to install a drilling platform soon at Shah Deniz, where the 2006 capital expenditure budget is $865 million.

According to Bloomberg, BP plans to ship gas from the field through the 690-kilometer South Caucasus Pipeline, which will run from Azerbaijan through Georgia to the Turkish border along a similar route to the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil export pipeline.
