Inflation 5% in 2 months

"Inflation made up 5% in Azerbaijan in the first two months of 2006, or more than two times below the same period of last year," State Statistics Committee chairman Arif Valiyev said.

Valiyev said the figure is predicted to somewhat rise in March, but will start to dwindle late in April, as this has been observed over the past several years due to seasonal factors, AssA-Irada reports.

"The prices are expected to keep decreasing until September," he said.

The Committee chairman added that if a considerable surge in prices is not observed in March-April, the yearly inflation figure is likely to be below 2005.
