As APA reports, N.Aliyev said that the gas pipelines of Azerbaijan allow delivering 1.5 milliard cubic metres of gas to Georgia every year. The technical issues concerning delivery of Iranian gas to Georgia through Azerbaijan were discussed at the meeting. Gas will be transported by means of the Astara-Gazimammad pipeline, and in the direction of Gazakh from there. At the same time, the underground gas storehouses of Azerbaijan will also be used.
The Ministry of Industry and Energy has already given its instructions to "Azerigas" JSC for solving the technical issues. "Our technical potentialities allow us to transport Iranian gas to Georgia. However, there are some problems. Iranian gas is delivered under 55 barometric pressure, but our pipelines are able to deliver gas only under 18 barometric pressure. Balancing stations should be built for this purpose and 1 month is required for it. The Azerbaijani party will complete all technical works till March 15", - N.Aliyev said.
According to the Minister, if the tariffs are expedient in future, Azerbaijan also plans to import gas from Iran by means of this pipeline. N.Aliyev said that after the Georgian party signs an agreement on purchasing gas with Iran, the amount of transit fees to be paid to Azerbaijan would be discussed. The issue whether to pay transit fees in money or in a form of raw material will be review in the negotiations.
According to N.Aliyev, in case transit fees are paid in money, the Azerbaijani part will offer to pay it in accordance with the world prices.
