Number of cars in country already exceeded 612.1 thousand

Cargo traffic increased by 9.2%, cargo turnover by 13.5%, passenger traffic by 4.8% and passenger turnover by 6.8% in the transport sector of the republic over the last year. Cargo traffic increased by 26.8% in railway transport, by 6.6% in motor transport, by 2.1% by means pipeline transporting, and by 3.6% in sea transport in the reporting year.

As APA reports according to SSC, 56.6% of cargo – 72.4 million tons was transported in the non-state sector and it exceeds the 2004 figure by 6.4%. The rest of cargo – 55.6 million tons fall to share of the state sector and growth was 12.8% in this sector.

Last year cargo turnover in the transport sector increased by 13.5% in comparison 2004. Growth in the railway transport having larger weight in cargo turnover (36%) was 26.4%, in sea transport 11.1% and in motor transport 8.2%. At the same time, 1 milliard passengers were transported by means of transport facilities and transportation increased by 4.8% as against 2004. 84.6% of passengers used motor transport and 14.7% used the Metro.

Passenger turnover during that period increased by 6.8% and was 14.8 billion passenger/kilometer. It was informed from SSC that in the reporting year cargo traffic in the railway transport increased by 26.8% as against the previous year and was 26.2 million tons. 73.7% of conveyed cargo fell to share of oil and oil produce, 19.4% of building materials, the rest part fell to share of cement, soda, ferrous metal and other cargo. Average daily loading of wagons increased by 32.6% and average daily unloading of wagons increased by 23.7% in comparison with the previous year. Cargo turnover in railway increased by 26.4% to 9.5 billion ton/kilometer. Passenger traffic by railway increased by 5.1% and passenger turnover by 11.6% in comparison with the previous year.

13.7 million tons of cargo or exceeding the 2004 indicator by 3.6% was transported by sea; 71.6% of it fell to share of oil cargo, 28.4% by land cargo and all cargo traffic was realized in foreign links. Cargo turnover in sea transport increased by 11.1% to 7.5 billion ton/kilometer and passenger traffic by sea decreased by 6.7%. Volume of loading-unloading works in sea ports decreased by 2.5% to 8.3 million tons. Volume of international transit cargo decreased by 2.9% and volume of imported cargo by 31.6%, and volume of exported cargo increased by 41%. As a result, 2.1 thousand tons of import cargo remnants existed as of January 1, 2006 for conveying to ports.

It should be noted that taking into consideration activity of physical persons – individual entrepreneurs in motor transport field, cargo traffic increased by 6.6% to 69.5 million tons in comparison with the previous year and cargo turnover increased by 8.2% to 7.5 billion ton/kilometer.

Passenger traffic by motor transport increased by 4.5% and was 845.9 million persons. One of the factors influencing development of this field is significant increase of the number of cars.

So, as of November 1, 2005 the number of cars on the country increased by 18.4% to 612.1 thousand. This is the biggest growth in the whole history of development of the country. 14.8% of cars comprised of passenger busses, 78.3% of passenger cars including 75% of individual cars and the rest part of other car types. 84.9% or 519.8 thousand of all cars was property of citizens and 458.8 thousand of them are individual cars. On average, 55 of each 1000 persons of population of the country or one of each four families have got their own car.
