Cotton yield was about 45,000 tons

This figure is bigger by 167,5% as compared to the previous year, the Ministry of Agriculture told Trend. In 2004 the cotton yield for the same period was 26 664 tons.

The Agriculture Ministry has also underlined, the cotton in Azerbaijan is grown in 21 country’s regions, particularly, in economic areas of Salyan-Mugan, Karabakh and Shirvan. This year the sowing of cotton was made on the area of 112,900 hectares and the yield of cotton for the entire 2005 is forecasted in the volume of 185,000 tons.

It should be noted last year the sowing of cotton was made on the area of 77,700 hectares and the yield was 135,000 tons.
