New sugar plant will be opened in Azerbaijan

However, the construction of the sugar plant with project value of $70mn by Azersun Holding in Imishli will enable Azerbaijan to reduce its dependence on import and prevent outflow of currency.

The company works in two-shift regime to speed up building and assembly work, ‘Azersun Holding told Trend. The construction of the subsidiary is underway and additional local contractors were involved in the project. The major part of the devices is supplied from Germany.

Last year Azerbaijan imported 147,000 tons of sugar, or 18 kg per capita, through 19 companies.
