Azerbaijan's new tourism brand to be presented in London

A new tourism brand of Azerbaijan will be presented in London, head of the public relations department of the State Agency for Tourism Kenan Guluzade said on September 27.

“A presentation of a new tourism brand of Azerbaijan, developed on the basis of a strategic roadmap, will be held on October 18,” he told Trend.

Guluzade noted that the presentation would be first organized in Baku.

He underlined that the tourism brand of Azerbaijan has been developed by one of the largest world companies.

“After the tourism brand of Azerbaijan is presented to the public in October, its international presentation will take place at the international tourism exhibition in London in November,” the spokesman said.

Presently, Azerbaijan is engaged in the efforts to diversify the non-oil economy, and tourism industry is one of the promising sectors to contribute to the achievement of this ambitious goal. The government carries out comprehensive activities to support the flow of foreign visitors.

Azerbaijan has great potential for tourism development. Nature, climate, historical monuments, cuisine, rich culture of the Azerbaijani people lay foundation for the development of many areas of tourism. Today the country is on the rise and continues to move forward.

The tourists mainly visit the most popular destinations – Baku, Sheki, Gabala, Guba etc. As for the tourism infrastructure, currently there are hundreds accommodation facilities operating in Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijan is among the fastest-growing destinations for tourists. In January-June 2018, 1.3 million foreigners and stateless persons from 189 countries visited Azerbaijan, which is 10.2 percent more than in the same period of 2017.

Some 30.5 percent of the visitors accounted for citizens of Russia, 21.1 percent - Georgia, 11.1 percent - Iran, 10.8 percent - Turkey, 3.6 percent - the UAE, 2.1 percent - Iraq, 2 percent - Ukraine, 18.7 percent - citizens of other countries, 0.1 percent - stateless persons, according to Azerbaijan’s State Statistics Committee.
