Introduction of a new financing mechanism for Azerbaijani farmers remains on the agenda. This was reported on Thursday by the Minister of Agriculture Ismet Abbasov.
"The Ministry of Agriculture and Economic Development will discuss the issue in conjunction with the government," Abbasov said.
According to him, the new mechanisms are directed not to decrease funding, but on the contrary, to its growth, as well as to a more efficient use of the funds.
Agricultural subsidies have been granted in Azerbaijan since 2007. As part of changes in the funding of local farmers, it is proposed to issue non-cash commodity subsidies in mineral, phosphorus, nitrogen and other fertilisers.
A decree on a grant of subsidies to the sum of 25.189 million manat was adopted on March 7. The ministry received grant requests from 58 districts and towns.
Grants will be provided to 168.893 individuals and legal entities and agricultural producers for implementation of work on 6,297,000 hectares of land.
Payment of grants is held through the plastic cards of authorised agent, Kapital Bank.
