Turkmenistan hosts the meeting of head of energy ministries of Azerbaijan, Turkey, Turkmenistan and the European Commissioner for Energy Gunther Oettinger.
On Monday, Head of the Press Service of the Ministry of Industry and Energy of Azerbaijan Azer Mensimli confirmed the fact that deputy Minister of Industry and Energy Natiq Abbasov went to Turkmenistan to participate in the planned talks.
TANAP project is interested in Turkmen gas, the Turkish newspaper Hurriyet referring to the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Taner Yildiz. It will be discussed during the talks in Turkmenistan.
In turn, the transportation of Turkmen gas via Azerbaijan is possible by building the Trans-Caspian gas pipeline under the Caspian Sea, which provides gas supply from Turkmenistan to Europe by transit.
Azerbaijan and Turkey signed the Intergovernmental Agreement on Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline Project (TANAP) on June 26.
In December last year, Azerbaijan and Turkey signed a memorandum of understanding to establish a consortium that would build a gas pipeline to supply gas from Shah Deniz to Europe through Turkey. Currently, 20 per cent share in TANAP is owned by Turkish BOTAS, SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) owns 80 percent.
The initial capacity of the pipeline is expected to reach 16 billion cubic meters a year. About six billion cubic meters will be delivered to Turkey, and the rest - to Europe.
