Volume issued to depositors of Azerbaijan SSR former Savings Bank named

As of June 20, about 63,167 depositors of the Azerbaijani branch of former USSR Sberbank as of January 1, 1992 got lump-sum individual payments worth 37 million manat, Azerbaijani KapitalBank Deputy Chairman of Board Araz Aliyev told media today.

"Kapital Bank is the legal successor of the Saving Bank of Azerbaijani SSR," he said. "It has received 177,462 appeals till June 20, of which 105,507 have already been sent to the center dealing with depositors' lump sum payments to under the bank."

He said that the bank considers 14,000-15,000 applications every day.

The number of applications received in connection with the loss of or damage of savings-bank book amounted to 3,140. About 8,000 individuals failed to receive payments.

The bank conducts the staff rotation policy to avoid corruption. Thus, the bank employee is not on the same office for more than 10 days. All data on payments are available in a single computer network.

Lump sum payments have been given since June 1 in 143 offices, 78 of which are located in regions of the country.

About 91 offices are in Kapital Bank branches, the rest - in specially created areas. A special e-map showing the location of these offices has been created on the website of the bank.

The process of obtaining the funds will end on December 31, 2013. The individual lump-sum payments to depositors of the Saving Bank of Azerbaijani SSR will cover 2.4 million Azerbaijani citizens, who are the owners of personal deposit accounts. According to the preliminary estimates of the Finance Ministry, funds amounting to about one
billion manat will be required for these benefits.
