'Azerbaijan's economic development requires int’l standards'

Bringing Azerbaijani standards in line with Europe's will develop the Azerbaijani economy, Secretary General of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Rob Steele told media today.

"It is of great importance in connection with the current pace of Azerbaijan's economic development," he said.

The forum has been organized by the ISO and the Azerbaijani State Committee on Standardization, Metrology and Patents. The representatives from Romania, Croatia, Belarus, Lithuania, Latvia, Georgia, Kazakhstan and other countries have attended it.

The issues of technical regulation in member-countries and standardization were discussed at the forum. Global experience in the adoption of appropriate standards was assessed.

Azerbaijan has been an ISO full member since 2003.
