More national standards will be adopted

The State Committee on Standardisation, Metrology and Patents of Azerbaijan plans to adopt about a 1000 national standards until late 2012, state committee chairman Ramiz Hasanov told reporters on Tuesday.

"In every area we plan to adopt about 100 standards which should amount to about 1000," Hasanov said. He added these standards will be adopted following a study of similar European and American standards.

"In addition, we review the old standards. A number of them can no longer be justified and so we get rid of them," Hasanov said.

The fund of standards of the State Committee on Standardisation today has about 21,000 standards, of which 660 are national.
