SOCAR names of terms underwater gas pipeline construction

By late August, SOCAR will complete the underwater gas pipeline laying to transport gas from the Umid field, SOCAR VP Khoshbakht Yusifzade told reporters on Thursday.

He said fully the drilling of one well has fully been completed, and development of a second well will soon begin. Upon completion of the development of the second well drilling the third well will commence.

"While the well drilled on the platform is conserved and to ensure the delivery of gas from the platform gas pipeline laying is underway which is to be completed before the end of August," Yusifzade said.

Given the existing wells on the platform, the volume of production in the field will be one million cubic meters of gas per day.

The discovery of the Umid field was announced in 2010.

According to SOCAR experts, the drilling results for the first exploratory well suggest that the reserve volume exceeds 200 billion cubic meters of gas and 40 million tons of condensate.

Umid is located 75 kilometers outside Baku. The first geophysical work was conducted here in 1953.
