Number of broadband internet users to up in Azerbaijan’s regions

Aztelekom (a production association of the Ministry of Communications & IT of Azerbaijan) has increased almost 3-fold its annual income over the past three years.

According to the MCIT, for the last 3 years Aztelekom’s annual income increased from AZN 50 million up to 130 million.

In the next two years Aztelekom is going to increase the number of broadband Internet users up to 1 million in regions of Azerbaijan.

This year Aztelekom is planning to organize the transmission through optical fiber cables in all rural electronic automatic telephone exchanges and transition from the classical telephony service to multimedia services in a way of development of broadband Internet services.

In accord with the instructions of the Head of State and the Communications Minister Aztelekom intends to develop broadband Internet in regions of the country and bring the number of Internet users in its network up to 500,000 subscribers. At the expense of activities of private providers operating in regions it is expected to increase the number of broadband Internet users up to 1 million.
