Azerbaijan to up commercial production of gold

Azerbaijan is planning to increase significantly commercial production of gold this year. At yesterday’s meeting of the Cabinet Ministers Huseyngulu Bagirov, Environment & Natural Resources Minister, stated that in 2012 gold fields Gedabey and Chovdar will produce totally 7.5 tons of gold.

"In recent years, the country produced 4.5 tons of gold. At Chovdar field located in Dashkesan district it was finalized preparation for the beginning of works and construction of an ore mill," Bagirov said.

He added that in recent years in Goygol region it was discovered field Tulallar with estimated reserves of 80 tons of gold and 290 tons of silver, in Dashkesan region – Goshgardag-Janagchi field with reserves of 20 tons of gold, in Shamkir region – a field with reserves of 50 tons of platinum.
