Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan may eye oil & gas development project

Kyrgyzstan is ready to discuss the oil and gas development project with Azerbaijan, head of the State Agency for Geology and Mineral Resources of the Kyrgyz Government Uchkunbek Tashbaev said during a meeting with SOCAR VP David Mammadov. "We are ready to thoroughly discuss cooperation with Azerbaijan within an oil and gas development project," Tashbaev said, KirTAG reported.

"I think that our fraternal relations must be based and strengthened on economic fundamentals. A main objective is to create the conditions to produce oil products to export them." He stressed that his ministry is ready to render maximum assistance on
all issues.

Mammadov said the company was previously acquainted with the structure of using oil products in the Kyrgyz Republic and asked for information about the approved oil and gas reserves in the country.

According to the state geology, there are 12 oil fields in Kyrgyzstan. The total stock hits 101.5 million tons, of which 13,4 million tons of recoverable oil.
