Azerbaijan's banking sector to passe-audit

10 February 2012 [15:17] - TODAY.AZ
The Azerbaijani Tax Ministry has prepared a bill that will ensure a legal basis to introduce e-audits in the country, official Asaf Asadov said at the forum "Tax System in Azerbaijan: realities and perspectives" in Baku on Thursday.

"The ministry has prepared a bill together with international experts to create a legal base for an electronic audit. The five rounds of discussions were held at the ministry. The experts from other ministries and state agencies were attracted at the last round of
discussions. This month, we plan to submit the draft to the Cabinet of Ministers."

The experiences of Austria and Germany were studied while preparing this project.

He said special software that is used in 70 percent of countries worldwide using e-audits has been purchased.

"A group of employees at the ministry was created," he said. "The seven-month trainings will be conducted for 50 auditors to use this system before the project is implemented."

He said that another component of introducing e-audit envisages the establishment of the information support system for more rapid application of an electronic audit, including the formation of the necessary knowledge base.

"Later, we plan to study the experience of other countries to use electronic audit," he said. He said first e-audits will be applied in the banking sector.
