Central Asia interested in Azerbaijani customs control model

27 January 2012 [19:55] - TODAY.AZ
The Azerbaijani model of introducing "single window" principle during customs control and registration of goods and vehicles can be used in Central Asia, chairman of the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee Aydin Aliyev told media today.

"We received the appeals from the World Customs Organization (WCO) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to assist in applying our experience in Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and other countries," Aliyev said.

He said that the Azerbaijani model of this principle is considered exemplary and studied in the world.

"The employees of the Azerbaijani customs are regularly invited to various international events to present this model," Aliyev said.

"Single window" principle has been used at customs checkpoints of the country since 2009. From this period, the sphere passed a certain stage of development. The steps were taken to resolve the legal and organizational issues. The widespread use of information technologies in the new rules was launched.

The Azerbaijani State Customs Committee achieved more effective control methods by using this principle. The opportunities of using technical means of verification have significantly improved. This saves time spent on the appropriate checks and related expectations.
