Azerbaijan annouces inflation rates

Consumer prices and tariffs for services increased by 0.9 percent in Azerbaijan in December 2011 compared to the previous month, the State Statistics Committee reported. During the month, food prices increased by 1.5 percent, non-food products by 0.1 percent, while tariffs on paid services by 0.6 percent.

There was an increase in prices for food products such as semolina, lamb, sausages, fresh fish, milk, butter, eggs, corn, pears, apples, quinces, pomegranates, walnuts, chestnuts, cabbage, greens, cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers and potatoes during December.

The price on rice, flour, bread, beef, chicken, sunflower and olive oil, lemons, bananas, oranges and tangerines, beets, carrots, garlic, onions, etc decreased last month.

There is an increase in the prices on clothing, oil and water paints, varnish for parquet flooring, wallpaper, brick, kitchen sets and chairs. Decline in prices was observed on the parquet, cement, kitchen tables, bedroom furniture sets, heaters, gas cookers, vacuum cleaners.

The increase in the rates was observed for passenger transportation by railway to the CIS countries and international air flights, travel on the subway, transportation of garbage and central heating services.
